Background

Some pesticide producers have participated in pilot programs to facilitate harmonization: one allows individual growers to import certain products into the United States for private use while the other attempts to create one label that meets the regulatory requirements for both countries.

CropLife America's Position

  • Harmonization can have a positive impact on growers. Current differences can affect availability and cost of products.
  • Product labels issued jointly by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), give growers access to a wider range of products.
